Welcome to NECTA
Build your trades career on the ground.
NECTA is a registered training organisation in Sydney built for the Australian workforce. We train people for civil construction, plant operations, and the trades, with real equipment, industry-experienced trainers, and direct connections to employers who are hiring.
Whether you’re starting out, getting licensed, or upskilling for the next role, we’ll meet you where you are.
Who NECTA is for
Domestic training at NECTA is built for five kinds of people. See yourself below?
Starting out in construction or civil work
You’re new to the industry and want a clear path in ,from your White Card through to a qualification and a first role.
Already on the tools and need a ticket or licence
You’re working but missing a key competency: plant operations, high risk work, or a verification of competency (VOC). We’ll get you certified fast.
Upskilling for a promotion or specialisation
You’re moving from operator to supervisor, taking on a new piece of plant, or stepping into civil construction from a related trade.
Changing careers into the trades
You’re leaving another industry. We’ll help you choose the pathway that gets you site-ready and earning the soonest.
Returning to work or recertifying
Your tickets have lapsed, you’re coming back after time out, or you’re re-entering after injury or a career break. We can refresh and recertify.
What We Train
We’re building NECTA’s training catalogue around what the Australian construction and civil sector actually needs starting with the units that get people working, then growing into full qualifications. Some products are live now, others are coming through approvals. Here’s the honest picture.
Plant & Equipment Operations
Get licensed and verified on civil construction plant. RIIMPO320F (Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations) is on NECTA’s scope and delivered in Sydney with real machines, not simulators. Excavator tickets are the most in-demand civil plant credential in NSW right now.
Now training: RIIMPO320F Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations. Coming soon: more RII plant tickets including dozer, grader, loader, roller, skid steer.
WHS & Site Readiness
CPCWHS1001 (Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) — the White Card — is on NECTA’s ASQA scope. We’re finalising our SafeWork NSW approval to deliver it as a government-funded and industry training (GIT) course. Once that’s confirmed, we’ll be one of the lowest-friction White Card providers in Sydney, with same-week certification.
High-risk Work License Classes
HRW classes including forklift, dogging, rigging, and crane operation are being added to NECTA’s scope to support the civil and construction workforce. We’ll publish dates and pricing as each class is approved.
Civil Construction Qualifications
Full RII civil construction qualifications from Certificate II through to Diploma are on NECTA’s strategic scope expansion plan. Target qualifications include RII20720 (Cert II in Civil Construction), RII30920 (Cert III in Civil Construction Plant Operations), and RII30826 (Cert III in Civil Construction).
First Aid & Emergency Response
HLTAID units designed to support the site safety baseline required across most construction and civil workplaces. These courses provide essential first aid and emergency response skills commonly expected by employers before entering site. Delivered as part of NECTA’s broader WHS training suite.
Pay for training The Smart Way
Training in Australia doesn’t have to come out of your own pocket. Depending on your age, employment, and qualification level, you may be eligible for one of the following funded pathways. We’ll help you work out which one fits.
Pay Directly
Pay by card, EFT, or invoice when you enrol. Fees are confirmed upfront in your Letter of Offer. Payment plans may be available for longer qualifications.

Employer-Funded Training
If your employer is paying, we invoice them directly and manage the admin. Ask admissions for our Employer Pack to help start the conversation.

Government-Funded Pathways
NECTA is currently applying for Smart and Skilled approval. Once approved, eligible NSW residents may access subsidised training through government-funded programs. For current eligibility and funding information, visit Training Services NSW.

Not Sure What You Qualify For?
That’s fair ,the rules are confusing. Talk to a real person at NECTA and we’ll walk you through it in 10 minutes. Phone, email, or book a short call.
Why NECTA
We’re not a generic college that happens to teach trades. NECTA is built around what happens on site, and that shapes everything we do.
Built for the Workforce
Every course we run is designed to make you employable on day one. Our scope is shaped by what employers in civil construction and trades are actually hiring for in NSW, not by what’s easy to deliver.
The NECTA Industry Nexus
NIN is our structured connection between training and employment. We bring employers into the conversation while you’re still studying, so the pathway from your last assessment to your first shift is short and obvious.
Trainers who’ve done the job
Our trainers come from civil, construction, and the trades, not from a classroom. They’ve operated the plant, run the sites, and signed off on the JSAs. That experience is what makes the training stick.
Accredited and compliant
NECTA is a registered training organisation under the Standards for RTOs 2015 (RTO 46048). We’re ASQA regulated and held to the same standards as any public TAFE.

Student essentials
What you need to know before you enroll
A short guide to the things every NECTA domestic student should understand — your USI, what you’ll walk away with, how training runs, how to get credit for what you already know, and the support you’re entitled to.
Every student doing nationally recognized training in Australia needs a USI. It’s a ten character code that links to a single, lifetime record of all the training you’ve ever done — here at NECTA, at TAFE, and at any other RTO.
A USI is free, takes about five minutes to create at usi.gov.au, and is required by law under the Student Identifiers Act 2014 before we can issue you any certificate or statement of attainment.
Don’t have one? No problem we’ll help you create one as part of your enrolment. All you need is a form of ID (driver licence, Medicare card, passport, or similar).
NECTA delivers nationally recognised training under the AQF. Depending on your course,
you’ll receive either:
- Statement of Attainment: for individual units or tickets
- Qualification: for full Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma programs.
All credentials are issued by NECTA (RTO 46048) and recognised Australia-wide.
Training is practical and industry-focused, delivered by experienced trainers.
- Location: Sydney training facility
- Delivery: Hands-on training, assessment, and workplace evidence where required
- Duration: From single-day courses to multi-month qualifications
- Intakes: Rolling enrollments for short courses; scheduled intakes for full qualifications
You may be able to reduce study time through:
- Statement of Attainment: for individual units or tickets
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) — credit for existing skills and experience
- Credit Transfer — recognition of completed units from another RTO
Admissions can provide a free eligibility assessment before enrollment.
NECTA provides free student support services to help you succeed throughout your training. This includes language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) support, reasonable adjustment for disabilities or learning needs, and welfare support if personal circumstances affect your study.
Students also have access to clear policies covering fees and refunds, privacy, complaints, and appeals, all available on the NECTA website.
Are you an employer?
Train your team with NECTA.
We work with civil contractors, construction principals, labour-hire firms, and trades businesses across NSW to deliver workforce training that actually changes site capability. Group bookings, on-site delivery, custom workforce programs, and trainee ship hosting.
Frequently Asked Question
Do I need to be unemployed to access fee-free training?
No. Some fee-free programs are means-tested, and some are tied to specific industries or qualifications. Talk to us ,we’ll work out what you qualify for in a short call.
Do you offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
Yes. If you have years of experience but no formal qualification, we can assess what you already know against the units of competency and credit you accordingly. RPL is faster and cheaper than full training for the right candidate.
Where is training delivered?
NECTA is based in Parramatta, NSW. Plant and civil construction training is delivered on-site at our training facilities across Western Sydney. Employer on-site training is conducted as required.
Can I study part-time or while working?
Most of our short courses and tickets can be done in blocks that suit a working schedule. Full qualifications can be structured part-time. Talk to us about what works.
What if I don’t have a USI?
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required for all nationally recognised training in Australia. Don’t worry, we’ll help you create one as part of your enrolment. It takes about five minutes.
Can my employer fund my training?
Yes. We invoice employers directly. If you want a one-page proposal you can hand to your boss to make the ask, let us know, and we’ll send it through.
How quickly can I get my White Card?
CPCWHS1001 (White Card) is on NECTA’s ASQA scope. We’re finalising our SafeWork NSW Government-funded and Industry Training (GIT) approval and will be running White Card classes shortly after. Register your interest above, and we’ll let you know the minute we open enrolments.
I’m a returning student. Can I refresh my tickets?
Yes. We do verifications of competency (VOC) and refresher training across most plant licences. Get in touch and tell us what’s lapsed.
Ready when you are.
Send us a short enquiry, and we’ll come back to you with a real human, real options, and a real pathway, usually within one business day.
- No obligation, no pressure.
- We’ll only contact you about your enquiry.
